"ถ้าผู้หนึ่งมีแกะอยู่ร้อยตัว ตัวหนึ่งหลงหายไปจากฝูง ผู้นั้นจะไม่ละแกะ
เก้าสิบเก้าตัวไว้บนภูเขาแล้วไปเที่ยวหาตัวที่หายนั้นหรือ" (มัทธิว 18:12)

ดิฉันเห็นใจผู้ที่ถูกตัดสินว่าละเมิดกฎหมายเป็นพิเศษ ที่เป็นเช่นนี้เพราะคงได้รับ
“มรดก” จากคุณพ่อ ท่านทำงานช่วยเหลือคนที่ถูกภาคทัณฑ์หรือถูกจำคุก ถึงท่านจะ
เคร่งครัดกับพวกเขาแต่ก็ดูแลเป็นอย่างดีท่านพูดกับพวกเขา พยายามช่วยให้เปลี่ยน
ใจ “สะอาด” และเริ่มต้นชีวิตใหม่ที่มีเป้าหมายและเกิดผล คุณพ่อบอกดิฉันว่าคนที่
ท่านทำงานด้วยส่วนใหญ่มาจากครอบครัวที่ขาดความรัก ทุกคนต้องจึงการความรัก
อย่างมากโดยเฉพาะคนในวัยหนุ่มสาว
นอกจากได้รับอิทธิพลจากคุณพ่อแล้ว ดิฉันอาจจะได้ความเห็นใจนี้จากพระบิดา
ผู้สถิตในสวรรค์ด้วย ขณะที่เรามองดูอาชญากรว่าเป็นคนไร้ค่า แต่พระเจ้าทรงดูแล
รักษาพวกเขา สิ่งสำคัญก็คือพวกเขาเป็นคนที่พระเจ้าทรงสร้างตามพระฉายาและตาม
อย่างพระองค์ถึงพวกเขาจะเป็นคนไร้กฎหมายพระเจ้าก็ยังรักและตามหา
สวรรค์มีความยินดีปรีดาเมื่อได้พบคนหลงหาย ครอบครัวของดิฉันรู้เรื่องนี้ด้วย
ตนเองเพราะน้องชายของดิฉันเป็นคนหนึ่งในพวกเขา แม้เราทุกคนจะทำบาป พระเยซู
ก็ทรงไถ่โดยหลั่งพระโลหิตของพระองค์เป็นเครื่องบูชา เราจึงได้รับอภัยโทษจากพระเจ้า
แต่ก่อนเราทุกคนเคยละเมิดกฎบัญญัติของพระองค์ แต่เดี๋ยวนี้เราสามารถดำรงชีวิต

"If a shepherd has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray?"

I have a special place in my heart for those who have been convicted of breaking the law. I must have “inherited” it from my father. He worked with people who had been either on probation or incarcerated. He was strict with them, yet caring. He talked with them and tried to help them to change, to get “clean” and begin to live purposeful and productive lives. My dad told me that most of the people he worked with came from dysfunctional families. All of them, especially teenagers, desperately want to be loved.
Maybe, in addition to my dad’s influence, I inherited this empathy from my heavenly Father. While we may see criminals as unworthy, God cares for them; after all, they too are created in God’s image and likeness. In spite of their lawlessness, God loves them and seeks them out.
Heaven rejoices when the lost are found. My family knows it firsthand; my brother was one of them. Even though we are all capable of sin, Jesus redeems us by his shed blood — a sacrifice that brings us God’s forgiveness. All of us who have lived outside God’s law can now live righteously and with purpose.
